Anime Expo is over, which means two things are probably true right now: you had an amazing time, and your body is absolutely fighting for its life.

If you spent the weekend running around the convention center, shopping Artist Alley, meeting friends, camping panels, hunting for exclusives, or staying up way too late after the con, first of all: same. AX is one of the most exciting weekends of the year, but the second you get home it hits you like, "Oh. I have been operating on vibes and iced coffee for four days."

So before you jump straight back into work, errands, unpacking, emails, or pretending to be a fully functional person, here is your official concon reminder to slow down a little and recover properly.

Post-AX Recovery Is Very Real

Anime Expo is fun, but it is also a lot. Like, a lot a lot.

You are walking for hours, carrying bags full of merch, surviving on convention center food, staying up late, waking up early, and probably spending most of the weekend overstimulated in the best way possible. There are booth lights, cosplay photos, artist alley aisles, friends calling your name, new releases, gacha pulls, and at least one moment where you look at your phone and realize you have 3% battery and no idea where your portable charger went.

It makes sense that the crash afterward hits hard. AX has that very specific kind of exhaustion where your brain is still excited, but your body has quietly filed several complaints.

If you just got back from Anime Expo, this is your permission slip to take care of yourself for a bit. You did the con. You survived the lines. You found the booths. You carried the haul. Now you get to be a little cozy and useless for a minute.

The Post-Con Reset, concon Style

1. Sleep First, Fix Everything Else Later

If your sleep schedule got completely destroyed during AX, you are absolutely not alone. Convention time is not real time. Somehow breakfast becomes 2 PM, dinner becomes midnight, and bedtime becomes "after one more hangout."

Give yourself permission to catch up on sleep before trying to be productive again. The dishes can wait. Your emails can wait. Your unpacking can wait for a few more hours if needed. Your merch haul will still be there when you wake up, probably staring at you from a tote bag like it has a quest marker.

Honestly, that is valid. That is peak post-AX strategy.

2. Rehydrate Like Your Life Depends on It

Convention dehydration sneaks up fast, especially when your brain is busy going, "Wait, is that the booth I wanted? Where is Kentia? Why is this hallway so long?"

Between walking around all day, drinking caffeine, eating salty food, and forgetting to carry water, it is really easy to end AX feeling awful without realizing part of it is just dehydration.

Get water in you. Get electrolytes in you. Eat an actual meal that is not just snacks and iced coffee. Your body will thank you, and your future self will stop vibrating at convention frequency.

3. Be Nice to Your Feet

AX is basically a marathon disguised as an anime convention, except the aid stations are merch booths and the finish line is your bed.

If your legs, back, or feet are wrecked right now, that is normal. Rest, stretch, take a hot shower, and avoid pretending you can immediately jump back into another full day of running around.

Anime Expo always reminds me that no matter how cute the outfit is, comfortable shoes are still one of the most important con decisions you can make. Future you will remember. Maybe.

Sort Your Haul Before It Becomes a Pile of Mystery Bags

One of my favorite post-con rituals is finally sitting down and going through everything I bought.

Prints, charms, stickers, shirts, cards, random freebies, business cards I forgot I picked up, and things I absolutely did not budget for but somehow came home with anyway. AX haul sorting is part of the fun. It is like opening your own little treasure pile from the weekend.

If you picked up a bunch of merch this year, now is the time to:

• organize your stickers and charms
• flatten prints so they do not curl
• sort your Artist Alley pickups
• put keychains on your ita bag or keys
• figure out where all your new favorites are going to live

There is no wrong way to do it. A binder, a shelf, a wall grid, an ita bag, a sticker book, a desk display, or a very lovingly arranged pile all count. The important part is giving yourself a second to enjoy everything you brought home.

Let Yourself Enjoy the Post-Con Glow

One of the best parts of AX is that weird emotional afterglow once it is over.

You finally have time to look through photos, rewatch clips, post your haul, message the friends you met up with, and process everything that happened over the weekend. The booth you loved, the cosplay you saw, the surprise meetup, the item you almost missed, the snack that saved your life at 5 PM. All of it.

There is always that mix of exhaustion, happiness, and "I cannot believe it is already over." That feeling is part of the con too.

So if you are still posting your haul, showing off your Artist Alley finds, or talking nonstop about your favorite AX moments, I fully support it. Keep the post-con glow alive a little longer.

Events like Anime Expo are always a huge mix of excitement, stress, preparation, and chaos behind the scenes. There is so much packing, planning, printing, setting up, restocking, talking, laughing, and trying to remember where I put the tape. But getting to meet people who love the same games, VTubers, and fandoms I do makes all of that worth it.

It means a lot every single time someone recognizes the booth, gets excited over a design, points at something and laughs, or tells me they have been following my work for a while. AX weekends are exhausting, but they are also one of the biggest reminders of why I keep doing this.

So thank you for making this Anime Expo special. I am going to be thinking about it for a while.
